Leadership MentoringBeing a leader is a journey … I am extremely grateful to all those who have guided me in my leadership journey and business development. I believe that being the CEO or a business owner can be a professionally lonely space – there are limits to what may be shared with the Board Chair and the same with the leadership team. My approach to leadership mentoring is to create a safe space for the leader to share their challenges (either active now or past) and to ‘unpick’ these to understand what is happening for the leader and others involved and what the options are for moving forwards.
Many years of teaching a leadership development course gives me theoretical material that I can share with the leader as well as many tried and true approaches to work through their current dilemmas. As we close our time together, I notice a sense of relief (from sharing and being heard), a rebuilding of self-belief and confidence in the leaders, enabling them to step forwards into the action/s required by the situation now and into the future. |
